Problem 1

On May 11, Homework 2 was split into two parts. The first part, called Homework 2a, consists of problems 1-4 of the original Homework 2. The second part, called Homework 3, consists of problems 5-7 of the original Homework 2, plus one additional question.
In problem 4, the items to be counted are not really intersections but ray-triangle intersection tests. We'll want to know how many such tests might be required in each (worst) case.
