Jeff Tyrrill CSE 457, Project 1 Artifact 2004 Spring The main technique here is that different brush types were used over different parts of the image. The point brush (size 6) was used over the sidewalk and dirt ground background. The circle brush (size 10) with alpha 0.30 (very transparent) was used over the clown. The line brush (size 10, thickness 1, angle 90 degrees, completely opaque) was used over the trees The brush used in each area somewhat resembles the appearance of that area. The trees are vertical, and so is the brush. The clown has spots of color all over, so the circles are appropriate. The ground is plain so the most plain brush is used. Some gaps of the original black image are left, as a relic of the imperfect techniques of the impressionist paintbrushes.
