These tiny cubes are only moments away from hatching from their tiny eggs. They develop within small transparent cases similar to those of frogs and salamanders. The shot is designed to show the depth of field blur, soft shadows (from semi-transparent objects), and anti-aliasing. The bottom images form a stereo pair, and if you are good, you may be able to get your eyes to converge so you can see the little cubes in 3D.
