Grading CSE 456 Summer 2018


Grades are broken down as follows:

  • Percentage of Grade
    Assignment #1 5%
    Assignment #2 5%
    Assignment #3 5%
    Assignment #4 5%
    Assignment #5 40%
    Lab Exercises and Check-ins 20% (5% per lab)
    Attendance/Participation* 20%

  • *Attendance/participation accounts for both lab sessions and class.


Deadlines for labs and assignments:

  • Assignments

    • #1 - Due in June 24th by 5:00 PM. E-mail this assignment to the staff alias.
      #2 - Due in July 1st by 5:00 PM. Submit your materials to Canvas.
      #3 - Due in July 8th by 5:00 PM. Submit your materials to Canvas.
      #4 - Due in July 15th by 5:00 PM. Submit your materials to Canvas.
      #5 - Due in July 22nd by 5:00 PM. Submit your materials to Canvas.

    • Remember to Use Checklists to make sure your assignment is complete

  • Labs

    • You’ll need to fill out a Critique Analysis for all lecture and lab assignments and one for the final assignment. These can be a few sentences for each question. Keep it brief and concise. Lab assignment critique analysis - check your written lab assignment for due dates. Lecture Assignments critique analysis will be due by noon on Sunday before class the next day.

  • Late Work

    • Late work will be accepted the same day work is due with lowered grade change by .5 for each hour it’s late. No other late work accepted.


Grading criteria for all work:

  • Ability to receive and apply feedback from the instructor(s) and from the TA's.
  • Ability to respond to communication from TA's and instructors promptly and respectfully.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and creative approach toward the project.
  • Ability to follow through on work that has been assigned including meeting assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to make constructive suggestions by doing the work assigned and providing alternate technical and aesthetic solutions when needed.
  • Ability to communicate positively and constructively and to resolve concerns quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to provide appropriate and creative contributions to all aspects of the production.
  • Ability to provide constructive and proactive approaches to problem solving during class meetings in support of the goals in the agenda.
  • Ability to organize your time and apply your skills.
