Grading CSE 456 Summer 2015


Grades are broken down as follows:

  • Percentage of Grade
    Assignment #1 5%
    Assignment #2 15%
    Assignment #3 15%
    Assignment #4 25%
    Lab Exercises and Check-ins 24% (3% per lab)
    Attendance/Participation* 16%

  • *Attendance/particpation accounts for both lab sessions and class.


Deadlines for labs and assignments:

  • Assignments

    • (Note: All turn-in times are now scheduled at 8:30 AM instead of 10:00/10:30 AM)

    • #1 - Due in July 1st by 8:30 AM. E-mail this assignment to the staff alias.
      #2 - Due in July 8th by 8:30 AM. Submit your pitch materials to the Catalyst Dropbox.
      #3 - Due in July 15th by 8:30 AM. Submit your pitch materials to the Catalyst Dropbox.
      #4 - Due in July 22nd by 8:30 AM. Submit your pitch materials to the Catalyst Dropbox.

    • Remember to Use Checklists to make sure your assignment is complete

  • Labs

    • All lab exercises are due in by the end of the lab.  Place a copy of your work online in the Catalyst Dropbox. For lab check-ins you must meet with a member of the staff and get feedback on your work to get credit for that day's lab.

  • Late Work

    • All late assignments will result in a .5 grade deduction for each day the work is late. Missed labs can be made up within one day, but with a 50% grade deduction on that lab.


Grading criteria for all work:

  • Ability to receive and apply feedback from the instructor(s) and from the TA's.
  • Ability to respond to communication from TA's and instructors promptly and respectfully.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and creative approach toward the project.
  • Ability to follow through on work that has been assigned including meeting assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to make constructive suggestions by doing the work assigned and providing alternate technical and aesthetic solutions when needed.
  • Ability to communicate positively and constructively and to resolve concerns quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to provide appropriate and creative contributions to all aspects of the production.
  • Ability to provide constructive and proactive approaches to problem solving during class meetings in support of the goals in the agenda.
  • Ability to organize your time and apply your skills.
