CSE 456 - Story for Digital Animation

Cinematography Exercise for Thursday (7/16)

Design and create five thumbnails using the Five-Shot Sequence paradigm so that you can clarify and dramatize the current boards in the sequences assigned to you below:

Red Group: You will dramatize the sequence that begins with the MASTER SHOT showing your protagonist approaching the school of fish after he notices something is wrong with the bubbles. You will dramatize this sequence up to and including the dramatic beat wherein his warnings are ignored by the other fish.

Blue Group: You will dramatize the sequence that begins with the MASTER SHOT showing your protagonist getting ready in the mirror with the photos next to him. You will dramatize this sequence up to and including the dramatic beat where we see his guest arrive.

Be sure you are telling a story that is ACTIVE and CLEAR in FIVE DISCREET IMAGES – in other words, 1 “board” equals 1 “shot”.

Do not use any text whatsoever, unless it appears on an object in the scene.

Bring 10 copies of the thumbnails to class to be reviewed on Thursday, July 16th.
