Original Images

Inspired by the moon landing hoax, I wanted to Photoshop an astronaut on the moon looking back on our blue planet. It was difficult to find a picture of the back of an astronaut.

Masks

The scissors tool worked well, especially on the astronaut. It had a harder time navigating through the fuzzyness around the meteor.

Final Image

Here's what I did in Photoshop:

  1. Step 1: Crop out the bottom of the moon terrain and flip the image horizontally so that the terrain is lower where the astronaut is.
  2. Step 2: Flip the image of the meteor and point it to the earth.
  3. Step 3: Darken and add contrast to the astronaut and crop the bottom of his shoes to avoid the footsteps.
  4. Step 4: Add the text, make sure it's 'smooth' rather than 'sharp'.

Good thing he's on the moon!
