Serenity (a spaceship from the TV series called "Firefly")

The mask!
Not the Final Image
When I combined the background, foreground, and mask, I ended up with this: (after flipping the foreground/mask layer horizontally)
The shadow looked a little anemic, and there was some residual blueness from the original Serenity picture.
Trying to make a shadow:
After some trial and error, I realized that I couldn't use the mask I made earlier for the shadow because the shadow would not be a profile of the correct perspective.
Judging from the angle of the self-cast shadow on Serenity, it looked like I would need to find a 3/4ths perspective picture of the ship.
BINGO!
I intentionally cut through the tail panels on the mask, because Serenity's tail is not open in the composite:
Unfortunately, the shadow looked weird no matter how I adjusted it. Fortunately, while I was trying to adjust the shadow, I discovered that using the paint bucket tool on the mask smooths the edges a little. I used this trick to get rid of the faint blue outline.
I was unable to create a satisfactory shadow, so I cropped the helicopter shadow off the bottom.
I also added some motion blur since the edges on the ship looked a little too sharp for something that was supposed to be moving really fast.
