Projects are a very large component of 454. In the past we've had students build a complete crawler from scratch, and last quarter we had them build a specialized webcam-crawler & search engine. This time we offer a choice. Students who have a strong desire to do a self-defined project should see the instructor ASAP, but the default project will be on ranking search engine results. Project #1: Building an Indexer, is due at 12:00PM, Tuesday, October 25, 2005. FAQ and tips Project #2: Text Ranker, is due at 4:00PM, Monday, November 7, 2005. Project #3: Web Ranker, is due at 4:00PM, Wednesday, November 23, 2005. Project #4: Dealer's Choice, is due at 10:30PM, Thursday, December 15, 2005.
