The UNIX Family Tree (a diagram of showing how various versions of UNIX are derived from the original).
An in-depth discussion of bootloaders on the Intel x86 architecture.
Scheduler Activations, a general solution to the problems with either user-level or kernel-level threads (plus, developed by UW CSE).
FreeBSD's Kernel-Secheduled Entities, an implementation of Scheduler Activations that will be in FreeBSD 5.0
