Exam Information and Resources

Exam Dates

• Midterm: Wednesday 11/4, 9:00am – 10:20am.
• Final: Wednesday 12/16, 8:30am–10:20am.

Midterm Information

• Exam location: TBD
• The exam will start promptly at 9am. Please show up 10 mins early to settle in and ensure you can start on time.
• Husky ID: Please bring your Husky ID to the exam. If you do not have your Husky ID for some reason, please bring an alternate form of photo identification.
• Materials: Students are allowed one 8.5x11 inch sheet of paper each on the exam. You may use both sides of the sheet of paper. It can be handwritten or typeset.
• Topics covered: MLE • linear regression • basis functions & cross-validation • bias-variance tradeoff • regularization & sparsity (ridge, LASSO) • gradient descent & SGD • convexity • logistic regression • classification pitfalls
• Exam format: There will be a mix of multiple-choice and open-ended questions on the exam. Expect this exam to have more open-ended questions (e.g., short answer, fill in the blank questions) than previous quarters.
