Image Description

You should use best practices to describe images, decide when to mention the background, describe people, and so on. You should learn to do this for various types including pictures, diagrams, screen shots, and so on in an inclusive and accessible fashion.

Best practices for Image Description

Image descriptions should be concise, complete and accurate. Here is a good overview of Images, SVG, and Canvas best practices. You should demonstrate an understanding of at least 3 of the following categories of image description.

• An image with people in it, demonstrating best practices in inclusive description interviewed BIPOC, Non-Binary and/or Transgender Blind people.
• Photograph
• Decorative and branding
• Diagrams; Visualizations
• Memes
• GUIS
• AR/VR)

Handin for Assessment

From among your assignments completed to date, select three images that include a range of the above types of content. For each image, hand in:

• The image
• ALT text for the image

For one of those three images, also read a paper on the relevant topic. Tell us which paper you read to properly describe this image, and a list of best practices described in the paper.
