About

On any given night, it is estimated that almost 23,000 people are homeless in Washington State. Homelessness is definitely an issue in our community. Most of the general public does not have an awareness of the struggles and stories of the homeless and how they can help them.

The number of homeless people grew by 20% in last year, organizations are having hard time to grow in order to solve this problem.

We interviewed some organizations which help the homeless and learned about homeless problems in their eyes.

Context of the design

It can be put any public place. It can appear on a street, or, for example, in a park.

Be drawn in by success stories

Successful stories will be put on the standby screen in order to attract more people to come to the scree.

Learn the stories of the homeless

The stories of the homeless are provided by the organizations which support them. People can learn more about them just by a click.

Donate to the needs of the homeless

People can donate directly to the needs of the homeless and organizations.

DESIGN PROCESS

We spend two months designing this product and here is our processes and why do we choose this design.

Getting the Right Design

We learned that homeless people do not only need money, food and job training. They also require lots of understanding. Thus, we thought letting more people learn about stories of the homeless must be one of our tasks. Additionally, some of the organizations are having hard time maintaining their business, most of them do not really grow because they cannot find new donors. So we choose to help them with it and decide this to be one of our final tasks.

Getting the Design Right

We drew our design interfaces on the paper and interact with using hand manipulation. At first there were too many layer before user can actually do the donation, so we changed it later to only have organizations and people page. In that way, user can click on any of this and donate buttons are there.We did our usability testing and found out problems about our design. The buttons were not clear, payment interfaces are too complicated. Afer finalizing our design, we made our digital mockups.
