As college students, many of us have seen the best and worst of relationships that people have with alcohol. Many classmates were mindful of the dangers of over drinking, simply enjoying the buzzed feeling that helped to loosen up the mind and body. However, there were individuals who consumed past their limits which left them in a multitude of states: throwing up incessantly, blacking out or in some cases victims of sexual assault. But they weren’t the only victims of overconsumption, so were the hosts, their friends, and even family.
Recognizing the prevalence of this issue, our first urge was to focus on the safety like many applications already out there. However, it wasn’t as simple as that. Many current applications fail to recognize that people go out drinking with the goal of having fun. These applications often prompt the user to input an abundance of information for every drink he or she consumed. With iDrinkSafe, we made sure to disturb the fun at a minimum. Finding that balance of enjoying alcoholic beverages and encouraging safety is our goal.
