Task 1:

You want to go on a short run through the U-District. You are an avid runner and very familiar with the area, so you already know the route you would like to run. You usually keep a running log and wish to record the pace and the distance of this run.

Easy: Go on a quick run and record your stats
  1. Click the "Quick Run" button.
  2. Now to begin your run, click "Begin Tracking".
  3. You arrive at a stoplight. Click the pause button.
  4. The light is green! Click "Resume Run".
  5. You're done! Click "Done".
  6. Confirm that you are sure by clicking "Yes".
  7. Your run is stored!
Task 2:

Today you wish to go for a long run through both Madison Park and the University of Washington campus. You would like your route to start at your house and loop through both points of interest, while taking into account your preference for only moderate elevation change. You also want to avoid as many major roads as possible and would like to run roughly six miles.

Medium: Plan a route, insert waypoints
  1. Click the "Plan a Route" button.
  2. Choose an appropriate route name (if you wish).
  3. Enter "6" into the distance text-box.
  4. Slide the terrain slider to the middle.
  5. Check the "Avoid Main Roads" box.
  6. Click the "Add Waypoints" button.
  7. Tap the screen at the UW Campus to add a waypoint.
  8. Type "Madison Park" into the searchbar and click "Go".
  9. Tap the screen at Madison Park to add a waypoint.
  10. Click the "Done" button.
  11. Now that all constraints are entered, click "Route It".
  12. This route is too hilly! Click the previous-screen button.
  13. Slide the terrain slider all the way to the left.
  14. Great! Click "Choose Route".
  15. Click "Save Route for Later".
  16. Your route is stored!
Task 3:

You wish to improve your overall time on a particular route. First, you need to review your current best pace on the desired route in order to know what time you are trying to beat. Then, during your run, you would like to receive real-time feedback that informs you of how you are performing relative to your past best.

Difficult: Look up past runs, review past pace and run the same route faster
  1. Click "View Routes".
  2. Click on the "Greenlake Route".
  3. To view more detailed statistics, click "Stats".
  4. Once you are knowledgeable, click the previous-screen button.
  5. To race yourself, click "Beat My Best".
  6. Now to begin your run, click "Begin Tracking".
  7. Hurry, hurry!
