  • Lecture: (CSE2 G20)
  • Welcome to CSE 421! I've been here long enough to have worked with the design teams for both the Gates and Allen Centers. My research is in computational complexity and algorithms, with interests both in pure theory and in its applications to other areas of CS. CSE 421 contains some of my most favorite topics to teach. I hope you have fun.

  • Hey everyone! My name is Ajay, and this is my first time TAing CSE421! Previously, I've TAed CSE122 and 123 for 6 quarters. But Algorithms has been my favorite class that I've taken at UW, so I have always wanted to TA for it as well! Outside of school, I love watching soccer ⚽ and running! Recently, I've been trying to cook a lot, albeit with very questionable results... I look forward to meeting you all this quarter!

  • Hi everyone! I’m Alex, a BS/MS student currently in CS. Outside of school, I like to play badminton, Go, and 4X video games. Looking forward to a great quarter in CSE 421 with you all, and feel free to reach out to me to talk about anything!

  • Section AB: Thursdays 12:30-1:20 (ECE 003)
  • Office Hours: Wednesdays 12:30-1:20 (CSE2 150)
  • Hello! I'm Ben, and I'm a BS/MS student currently working towards my master's degree. I had a lot of fun in CSE 421 and it's given me many practical skills for interviews and problem solving. In my free time, you can find me cooking, climbing, or making matcha and tea. Feel free to reach out to chat about theory, math, or anything else! Looking forward to meeting all of you!
  • Daniel Gao (he/him)
  • dgao2 [at] cs.washington.edu
  • Section AE: Thursdays 3:30-4:20 (ECE 025)
  • Office Hours: Fridays 3:30-4:20 (Allen Center 2nd floor breakout)
  • Hi everyone! I'm Daniel, a senior undergraduate computer science student minoring in business. This will be my second time TAing 421 and I hope everyone learns a lot and finds the topics as interesting as I did! Outside of school I like to run, draw, and play video games. Feel free to stop by my office hours to ask questions or chat about anything. I look forward to meeting everyone.

  • Hi everyone, I'm George. I'm a third year CS and math major, and I'm TAing 421 for the first time this quarter. This course was one of my favorites, and I'm excited to work through it with you all! In school, I'm interested in theoretical CS, probability, and discrete math (among other things). Outside of school, I like hiking, chess, and any kind of card game. Feel free to come by my office hours to chat about anything.

  • Hi everyone! I'm a second-year Ph.D. student in CS Theory. I study proof complexity and am generally interested in formal reasoning. This is my second time TA'ing 421, and overall I've been teaching for over 5 years now. In my free time, I like cooking and board games. If you ever have questions, confusions, or want to chat about something, feel free to stop by anytime!

  • Hello everyone! I'm Jonathan, a fourth year CS major. CSE 421 is a great class and I hope you all enjoy it too. Academically, my interests span a variety of CS topics, and recently, particularly topics in logic and formal verification. Outside of class, I play a healthy amount of video games and collect a number of miniatures (planes, ships, and whatnot). I look forward to being one of your TAs this quarter!
  • Owen Boseley (he/him)

  • Office Hours: Tuesdays 2:00-2:50 (Allen Center 4th floor breakout)
  • Hi everyone! My name is Owen and I love all things theory and computer science. My goal this quarter is to get you all to gain an appreciation for algorithms and in doing so, make you guys better programmers! In my off time, I enjoy tinkering with react projects, running, thinking of start-ups, and making failed resolutions that I will read a book in the next month. Hope to see you around :)
