Here's some preliminary information so you can get started.
I would like each person to select a different programming language, and
report on it. The language should NOT be one covered in our text book
(even in chapters we are skipping), and it should NOT be one you already
have studied (remember, I have your questionnaires!)
For the language you pick, I'l ask you to investigate specifically a
couple of things, and in addition you can report on some features of
particular interest to you. The focus is to be on the langauge itself,
not on machines, compilers, or applications associated with the language.
The first step is selecting the language. PLease get started on that
right away. I think you will find tons of stuff on the Internet, but
that's not the only place you can look.
When you have a language in picked out, you can "register" it with
me (via e-mail) so that no one else grabs it. Try to have the selection
process done quickly -- say one week or 10 days.
Don't stop working once you have a language selected. Start right away
collecting information and learning as much as you can. The next step
will be to focus the topic a little.
I'll post formal requirements and a detailed schedule later. Have fun!
