This page contains links to current and old exams from CSE 413 along with a list of topics for this quarter's exams. The overlap between previous offerings of the course and this quarter isn't exact so you should ignore questions about topics we haven't covered. In particular, during some quarters the MUPL assignment (hw5) was finished before the midterm and is included on those midterm exams, while other quarters (including 23sp) did not do that assignment until after the midterm, so it wouldn't be part of the midterm during those quarters.
Suggestion: Don't read these exams until after you've done your initial studying. Then use them as a check for how well you are prepared. Start with a blank exam and try to answer the questions in a quiet room within the time allowed for the exam. Then check your answers against the sample solution.
Disclaimer: Occasionally errors are spotted in old questions or answers. If you think something might not be right, ask on the course discussion board, don't just memorize what's here and assume that it could never have a bug. We'll try to fix anything that turns out to have a problem.
The midterm exam will be closed book and closed notes, except that you can bring one 5x8 index card with whatever hand-written notes you wish written on both sides. Blank index cards will be available in class the week before the exam so you won't need to buy a big packet of cards only to use one or two of them. Bring your UW ID card with you to the exam.

As with the midterm, the exam will be closed book, closed notes, except that you may bring two (2) 5x8 index cards with whatever hand-written notes you wish on both sides of the cards. You can either bring the notecard from the midterm plus a new one for the final, or two new notecards written for the final. Bring your UW ID card with you to the exam.
