The Math Sciences Computing Center is the principle computing lab for CSE 413. DrScheme, the Sun Java JDK, and other software are available on the Windows NT machines for our use. Here is some specific information about using the MSCC for CSE 413 projects. For general information about the lab, see the MSCC web pages at http://www.ms.washington.edu/.
A single account/password pair is shared by all CSE 413 students who use the PC/NT computers in the Math Sciences lab in the basement of Thomson Hall. The account name and password will be given out in class.
Students can set up a personal account on the MSCC UNIX computer. This gives you a private network disk drive accessible from a lab PC where you can store your files. To establish this account, telnet to: hilbert.ms.washington.edu then login as: newuser. The password will also be given out in class.
This runs a script which asks for name and student number, and lets the person choose an account name. The account is ready in about 5 minutes.
If you already have a MSCC account, you should continue using your existing account and not attempt to set up a new one.
