Here are some images made with a solution program for project 2. These images are pretty simple, but the field of Cellular Automata finds many applications in helping researchers understand and develop complex systems that carry information forward about their previous states and modify it using relatively simple transformation rules.
The seed index referenced in each label is a value from 0 to 4, which indexes one of 0x0, 0x1, 0xAAAAAAAA, 0x55555555, 0x80000000.
If you come across an image in your work on this project that you think
might be interesting to the rest of us, highlight the console window, press
Alt-Print Screen to copy the window, then paste it into some simple image
processing program and save it as a gif image. Send me (djohnson@cs.washington.edu)
the image and the information about what the program parameters were, and
I'll post it.
