Reflective Essay #5

CSE 403: Software Engineering

Reflect on each of the following topics:

  1. Thinking back over the period of time since your last reflective essay, what is the most useful thing you learned about software engineering from the class? Describe how you learned it, and how it changed what you thought about software engineering.
  2. Describe one example of how you used feedback from fellow student(s) in the class. What was the form and content of the feedback? What did it make you do differently?
(As shown on the calendar, the course events that occurred since reflective essay #4 include Jim Bullock's session, Ben Shanfelder's session, two deliveries to Bjorn, Bjorn's presentation on Value, the third peer review, the third project feedback cycle, speech acts, and Eric Brechner's session. You might find lessons from these areas, or from somewhere we haven't mentioned.)

Note: Use no more than 1 page of plain ASCII text (do not use DOC, RTF, PS, PDF or other binary formats).
Non-textual artifacts in the form of images, if any, are limited to 1 additional page. Use only common graphical formats, such as JPG and GIF. (If special software - other than a common browser - is needed in order to view your images, then you're doing something wrong.)
Should you need a scanner, you can find one in Allen 006, at least. Save the image to JPG / GIF format and attach it to your submission. If for some reason you are unable to scan your artifact, mention this in your submission and bring the artifact to class on the date the essay is due.
