Office Hours
Hi y’all! I’m James. I joined the teaching faculty at the Allen School this year!
I started teaching my junior year of college and was immediately hooked! I usually teach introductory courses (like CSE 121 and 160) and the computing ethics seminar (CSE 480), and I’m excited to be teaching CSE 391 again this quarter. I also conduct research on AI ethics/policy education and AI literacy.
In my free time, I love to travel (recent highlights include Ireland, Peru, and South Africa), cook (check out some of my recent food adventures), and play Minecraft (my current survival world is over 3 years old). Stop by my office to say hi sometime!
Getting Help¶
If you have a general question that other students could potentially benefit from, considering posting on Ed. On Ed, you can also set your questions to private or anonymous as you see appropriate.
For logistical questions (such as extenuating circumstances and DRS accomodations), we ask that you post privately on Ed so the whole staff can respond. For sensitive situations, you can also email James directly if you would feel more comfortable.
We are often available at other times by appointment, and we encourage you to schedule 1:1 appointments whenever you want to talk about concepts, grades, internships, or anything else.
