Getting Help

If you have a general question that other students could potentially benefit from, considering posting on Ed. On Ed, you can also set your questions to private or anonymous as you see appropriate.

For logistical questions (such as extenuating circumstances and DRS accomodations), we ask that you post privately on Ed so the whole staff can respond. For sensitive situations, you can also email Ryan directly if you would feel more comfortable.

We are often available at other times by appointment, and we encourage you to schedule 1:1 appointments whenever you want to talk about concepts, grades, internships, or anything else.

You can find Zoom links for CSE 391 office hours using our general Zoom instructions.

Office Hours

Thurs 10:30 am - 11:30 am

I’m Ryan! I did my undergrad and masters at UW, and am now an assistant teaching professor in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering. My masters work was in the database group with Magda Balazinska and I’ve also worked in the UW eScience Institute.

Originally I got my undergraduate degree and astronomy and physics, and began working on research related to both databases and astronomy before going to grad school. I’m very interested in data management and data science and teach CSE 344, 444, and 180 on those topics!

Hi, my name’s Micheal, and I am about to begin my third year here as an undergrad here at the Allen School. I’m often busy with school, but when I’m not doing CS stuff, I love playing the violin, electric guitar, Nintendo games, road biking, and studying Japanese (I speak Cantonese too!). Nice to meet you all!
