Your grade for this class will be based on a Pass/Fail scale. Because we want to encourage participation and active engagement in the material, your grade will be based on participation during lecture, discussion, workshops, and your reading responses.
Participation and engagement is expected for all lectures.
Workshops will be held approximately every other week during class and are designed to build familiarity with how we can apply common packages, machine learning techniques, and methods to real-world problems related to climate change.
You will have required and optional readings each week, which can be found on the course schedule. You should post your reflections on the readings on the EdStem discussion board before 9:00am on the day of the lecture. We will discuss the readings during class, so come prepared!
Readings may vary in length, but should not take more than two hours. An acceptable reading response is about five to seven sentences.
You are welcome to respond to the readings however they inspire you. Here are a few prompts you can use to get started:
Reading responses must be submitted before 9:00am on the day of lecture. While we expect you to do the readings for every week, you may miss one assigned reading response without penalty. If you have extenuating circumstances, let us know.
