I am a proud 206-Seattle local where the mountains, evergreen trees and rainy seasons have always been my home. I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Washington in American Ethnic Studies and my master's degree in education at Seattle University. As a yonsei fourth generation Japanese American woman, granddaughter of Executive Order 9066 internees, first-generation college student, and women's youth basketball coach, I draw upon my personal and professional experiences in working with students. I joined the Allen School in October 2018 and have loved supporting students in pursuing their CS endeavors. I enjoy playing, watching and coaching basketball (BRING BACK THE SONICS), snuggling with my two cats (Kaelo and Miyu), and experiencing all of life's adventures with my partner.

I grew up about 10 minutes away from UW and love Seattle, rain and all. I received my undergrad degree from UW in CS, and I'm currently working towards a Master's degree with a focus on education. In my free time, I like to do a lot of different things, all of which I enjoy more if I get to do them with my friends and family (not during COVID-19 of course). For starters, I love to garden, cook, and bake goodies. I also love spending time outside, running, hiking, biking, skiing, and seeing friends and family around Seattle (again, in non-COVID-19 times). I am super excited to have the opportunity to be a part of 390B this quarter and to hopefully get to know all of you. Please drop by my office hours and say hello! I'm happy to answer 390B questions, general UW/CSE questions, and/or chat about anything else.

I'm wrapping up my bachelor's in CS with interdisciplinary honors, with plans to pursue a master's degree next year. During my time at UW, I'm grateful for so many opportunities to challenge myself through TAing (my favorite!), internships, research, and outreach. Fun fact: I published a book called Data for Dignity which explores ways we can leverage technology to combat human trafficking. I've lived in California, South Carolina, and now Seattle... I absolutely LOVE traveling to new places. This quarter, I'll actually be studying/working from Hawaii, where I will spend my spare time (hopefully) learning how to surf. I'm thrilled to get to know you as we jump into this 390B adventure together! Don't hesitate to reach out — I'm always happy to chat about anything that's on your mind.

I live in Everett and I grew up in Bellingham, just a little further north of Seattle. This is my first time being a TA, I’ve been working as a waitress since I moved to Seattle for college. I’m hoping to graduate in 2022 with a bachelor’s in CS and a minor in American Indian Studies. I love to volunteer- most recently online for Seattle Public Schools as a tech support to parents and at the U-District food bank. Plants and gardening are my focus outside of school, as well as camping, backpacking, and, above all else, my dog Dyno. I’m really looking forward to building relationships with students this quarter and hopefully becoming someone they can rely on and trust in the Allen School.
