Getting Help¶
If you have a general question that other students could potentially benefit from, considering posting on Ed or Discord. On Ed, you can also set your questions to private or anonymous as you see appropriate.
For logistical questions (such as extenuating circumstances and DRS accommodations), we ask that you post privately on Ed so the whole staff can respond. For sensitive situations, you can also email Kasey directly if you would feel more comfortable.
We are often available at other times by appointment, and we encourage you to schedule 1:1 appointments whenever you want to talk about concepts, grades, internships, or anything else.
Instructor¶
I was born just outside Vancouver, Canada. Moved to the bay area when I was 11 months old and then to Seattle when I was 7 so I’m about as “west coast” as they come. I went to UW for undergrad where I studied Electrical Engineering (embedded systems) but TA‘d 143 for 9 quarters so I decided to go full software post graduation. I have had a lot of different and weird tech jobs since graduation but teaching is my true love so I teach AP Computer Science A at Franklin High School in addittion to 373 and my day job.
Let’s talk tech careers! Other less tech specific obsessions: my 1969 VW bus, camping, Disneyland, drag & burlesque, training service dogs
Teaching Assistants¶
Hi all! I’m a 2nd year PhD student and my main area of research is developer tools to write quantum programs. First time TAing this course, but I love programming so I’m very excited to be here and help you. Outside of UW I’‘m a dad of twin teenage daughters and a software engineer at Microsoft, so as you can see I’m typically pretty busy (sorry for the early OHs!). Feel free to contact me via email if or EdStem if you have any questions.
Hi all, I am a fifth year masters student pursuing BS/MS in Computer Science. This is my second time TAing this course and I am excited to be back for in-person course. Outside of school and work, I mainly play console games and basketball. Looking forward to meeting you all in OH and talk about stuffs.
Leah is a 6th year PhD student and this is her 3rd quarter TAing CSE 374. Her research centers around inclusion, access, and equity in tech and she plans to teach undergraduate computer science after graduation. Outside of work, Leah can be found at her aerial circus gym practicing skills on aerial fabric.
Hi all, I’m doing a double major in Computer Science and ACMS. I spent my first 19 years in Beijing, China (1 more year due to COVID!) before coming to Seattle. A bit more about me, I had Chinese local curriculum in my K-12 and even attended in college entrance examination in China (aka Gaokao), but ended up coming to Seattle for my collegiate years. Interested in Machine Learning and NLP, also a fan of romantic novels. Feel free to talk with me!
