Staff Mini-Bio: Jared
WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR ACADEMIC PATH?
- I grew up in the Spanaway/Parkland area of Washington, and went to Bethel High School. I started at UW
in 2020 as an engineering undeclared, and chose to go into EE. I am actually an ECE major now, but basically
the same thing. Most coursework I have taken is in digital logic and VLSI, but this year I gained an interest
in analog integrated circuits and have been taking some coursework on that throughout the year too. I will be
graduating with my B.S. at the end of this quarter, and I plan on pursuing my M.S. starting next year.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES, TALENTS, AND SKILLS?
- Once upon a time I was an active viola player (cooler than the violin) and tennis player. Between the
Pandemic and starting school I have mostly lost both of those, though I do still get to the tennis court on
occasion and I am hoping to get back on the viola after graduation. I also love to go on hikes with friends,
try new restaurants and bars, and improve my currently limited cooking skills.
HAVE YOU DONE OR EXPERIENCED ANYTHING REMARKABLE OR MEMORABLE?
- For a couple years in high school, my family was involved with my Aunt's family in the sale of a house. It
was a unique experience for me to work on repairs and preparing the house for sale, and I got a lot of good
memories from it spending a lot of time with my brother and cousins during that defining period of my life.
WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS QUARTER?
- Besides TAing for this course, I am taking two capstone courses in EE 437 and EE 478, which I imagine will
be eating up a good chunk of my bandwidth this quarter.
