CSE370 Computing Information
Computing Platforms
We will be using the Intel PCs located in Sieg 232. Please do not eat or
drink in the laboratory, and respect both the equipment and your fellow
students.
These machines were donated to the department by Intel Corporation of
Hillsboro, OR.
Writing and Drawing Tools
All the machines have Microsoft Office and other application software
installed. You may these software tools to write up your assignments
(you may of course use equivalent software on another machine).
Handwritten assignments are of course acceptable, but we will not
spend time trying to decipher poor handwriting.
The MSOffice software was donated to the department by Microsoft Corporation
of Redmond, WA.
Logic Design Tools
We will be using a set of logic-design tools called Synario. These
include a schematic editor, a compiler to programmable logic devices
and field-programmable gate arrays, an integrated logic simulator, and
a state-diagram drawing tool with its own compiler. You will use these
tools to specify, synthesize, and simulate your designs and to
incorporate schematics, state diagrams, and simulator output into your
assignment writeups.
There is a nice, home-grown tutorial for Synario here.
These logic-design tools were donated to the department by Data-I/O
Corporation of Redmond, WA.
