Distributed: 10
February 2010
Due: 17 February 2010
Reading:
- Review Katz/Borriello,
Contemporary Logic Design 2e, Chapter 6 (pp. 259-298).
- Katz/Borriello, Contemporary
Logic Design 2e, Chapter 7 (pp. 307-347).
Exercises:
- CLD-II, Chapter 6, problem 6.10, all parts (use this template).
- CLD-II, Chapter 6, problem 6.17.
- CLD-II, Chapter 6, problem 6.25 (the 74194 part is the
one used in Figure 6.56 on page 294).
- CLD-II, Chapter 7, problem 7.5.
- CLD-II, Chapter 7, problem 7.6. If your counter is NOT self-starting, show
a modified design using the smallest possible change to the original implementation
to make it self-starting.
- CLD-II, Chapter 7, problem 7.9.
Rationale:
- To begin understanding the basic building blocks of
sequential circuits.
- To start designing and using sequential circuit building
blocks.
- Start to familiarize yourself with the finite state
machine design and implementation process.
