CSE352 Catalog Description: Covers digital circuit design, processor design, and systems integration and embedded-systems issues. Include substantial hardware laboratory.


Course Goals

  1. Understanding digital logic at the gate and switch level including combinational and sequential logic elements
  2. Understanding clocking methodologies and system timing
  3. Learning how to specify digital-logic designs and compile these into digital circuit implementations
  4. Learning a set of tools for digital logic design
  5. Appreciating the difference between implementing a function in hardware and software, and the advantages and disadvantages of each
  6. Understanding the design and implementation of processor architectures
