Asking Questions, Getting Assistance, Giving Feedback

It is very important to us that you succeed in CSE 351! Outside of lectures and sections, there are different ways to ask questions or discuss course issues:
  1. Visit office hours (see Events above)! In addition, if you need extra time or need to discuss something in private, feel free to email and make an appointment.
  2. Make a public post about course content on the , where they benefit the whole class. If other students can answer your question, you may receive a response more quickly than you would by emailing the course staff. This is the best way of asking questions about homework, labs, and other class-related topics. Before posting, please search through the questions that have already been posted in case someone has already asked the same question.
  3. Make a private post to just the course staff on the with any questions or issues you would prefer to discuss privately. While you can email staff members individually when that makes sense, contacting the whole staff is generally preferred to get a faster response and to let the whole staff see what issues students are having.
  4. Send to the course staff. The instructor will try to address the issue and share it with others only as appropriate, but will not have a way to reply to you without addressing the whole class.

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR ACADEMIC PATH?
I spent my kiddo days in Southern California, but as an adult I prefer my current home in good old gloomy Seattle.

I chose computer science as a major because it was the least awful of all other possible options. xkcd

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES, TALENTS, AND SKILLS?
Guitar, writing bad lyrics, swing dancing, fangirling over Brandon Sanderson's books-- you should read Warbreaker. Everyone should read Warbreaker.

HAVE YOU DONE OR EXPERIENCED ANYTHING REMARKABLE OR MEMORABLE?
Last year, I accidentally started a fire inside my roommate's mini oven. I was trying to make a quesadilla. Attempts to open the oven only fed more oxygen to the flame. The quesadilla was a lost cause. :'(

WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS QUARTER?
I will be attempting to better myself as a human being.

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR ACADEMIC PATH?

I'm from Kirkland, across the lake. In high school, I took CS classes at DigiPen college in Remond, and I started teaching CS there as a summer school TA three years ago.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES, TALENTS, AND SKILLS?

I love studying Japanese language and culture. I'm taking Modern Japanese Literature this quarter, and I'm taking the N3 (Intermediate) language test this December.

Also, I just love teaching computer science so much! I'm aiming to do a PhD in Computer Science focused on CS Ed. I'm also a CS & Education double major, so to everybody who interacts with me this quarter, let me say:

I will do everything I can to make this class as fun and interesting as possible

Seriously, if you have any suggestions, tell me through anonymous feedback, or if you're comfortable email or even a one on one meeting

HAVE YOU DONE OR EXPERIENCED ANYTHING REMARKABLE OR MEMORABLE?

Okay, so I went to Japan in September of 2016, and I saw "Kimi no Na ha" (Your Name) in theaters on 9/1/16, so I'm probably one of the first Americans to see it.

Fun fact, my Japanese was still pretty shakey at that time, so I totally misinterpreted the last third of the movie

WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS QUARTER?

Two Education classes, EDC&I 351 and EDUC 251, Modern Japanese Lit, and research on CS Ed in the Ko Lab

Do not let any of that get in the way of asking me for help! Schedule a meeting with me or come by my office hours!
