1. I announced in class today that the midterm will be held on Wed, May 5, in class. It will be for 50 minutes duration, and will be closed book, closed notes. We will hold class as usual on Friday, April 30, and not cancel lecture for the College of Engineering Open House. There will be a homework due on Apr 30, but there won't be any due on May 7 due to the midterm. The exact topics for the midterm will be announced next week. 2. There is a mistake in the problem statement of Problem 1 of Problem Set 3. The correct statement should read: Prove that if you pick 10 distinct numbers from 1 to 1000, then there is a pair of numbers such that the larger of the two is at most twice the other. I'll post a revised PS3 with the above corrected statement online shortly.
