Due: Friday 29 September 2006, 2:00pm
This is a very brief individual assignment to help us get to know you better and to help familiarize you with the technology you will use in this course. You must complete the Background Survey (mentioned below) before the deadline, but otherwise this assignment is not graded. In order to complete this assignment, you will need a UW NetID and a CSENetID. If you do not have one or the other, notify the instructor or a TA immediately.
Navigate a web browser to http://www.cs.washington.edu/303, which will take you to the home page for this course as long as it is running. Locate this document under "Assignments." This is where you will find all future assignments.
Complete the CSE 303 Student Background Survey so that we can tailor this course to meet your needs and interests. You must have a UW NetID to complete the survey.
Join the cse303@cs.washington.edu mailing list by going to this page and clicking "Subscribe." We will use this mailing list to distribute vital course information after this assignment's deadline. You must have a CSENetID to join the mailing list. Note that you can return to this page from the course home page and view the mailing list archives at any time.
Work through the Quick & Dirty Guide to Getting Started in CSE 303. This document tells you how to find or set up a computer for doing future assignments. It also walks you through the basics of using Linux shells and the emacs text editor. We will assume that you can do these things after this assignment's deadline. You can find this document in the future at the top of the CSE 303 Computing Resources page
Once you complete the Background Survey, you have turned in all that you need to turn in for this assignment.
