Getting Help¶
Having questions or getting stuck on something is entirely expected in the learning process. If you find something challenging with your studies, that is a sign you are learning! Learning is not something that you need to do alone though! In fact, connecting with your peers or asking a member of the course staff for help can add extreme depth to your knowledge.
If you have a general question that other students could potentially benefit from, considering posting on Ed! On Ed, you can also set your questions to private or anonymous as you see appropriate.
We are often available at other times by appointment, and we encourage you to schedule 1:1 appointments whenever you want to talk about concepts, grades, or anything else.
Ed Tips
- If you are asking a general question about the course logistics or content, you can make a public post. This way other students can benefit from seeing your question, and you can even answer each other’s questions to share your perspectives!
- If you want, you can choose to post anonymously so that other students in the course can’t see your name. Note that anonymous posting does not hide your identity from the course staff.
- You’re encouraged to answer each other’s questions as well! Explaining a topic to someone else (even on a discussion board) is a great way to help you better understand the material The course staff will still look over student answers and can nicely point out some misconception if there is one so that everyone benefits.
- If you have a question that’s pretty specific to your homework solution, or, is about some personal details that you would not want to share with the class (e.g., DRS accommodations), you can make a private post on Ed that is only visible to the course staff. This way, any member of the staff can respond to get you the help you need!
- For sensitive matters that you only want to discuss with Adrian, you can instead email Adrian if that makes you feel more comfortable. Note that the response time for Adrian’s email is longer than posting on the Ed board.

Hi, I’m Adrian! I’m so excited to have you all in CSE 160! I’m originally from Los Angeles and I have a B.S. in Computer Science from UCSC (banana slugs!) and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UCSD. Most of my research work surrounds computer science education, primarily understanding the struggles students face when learning computing and how instructors and universities can better support student learning.
My go-to “me” activities are running, baseball, gaming, and weightlifting. Some of my favorite video games include Red Dead Redemption 2, Breath of the Wild, and Civilization VI. There’s a lot besides video games I am happy to chat about, from “computer science-y” or academic stuff such as how to get involved with research or teaching to more casual things like books, sports, or the hot new TV shows. Looking forward to working with you all this quarter!

Aneesha Ramesh
Quiz Section: TBD
Hello everyone! My name is Aneesha, and I am a master’s student studying Computer Science in the B.S./M.S. program. I have TA‘d for CSE 163 for 4 quarters, and this is my fifth time for CSE 160. I love seeing how students in CSE 160 go from not knowing how to code to writing complex programs with many lines of code within the short span of just a quarter! In my free time, I enjoy hiking, traveling, learning languages, running, and playing with my dog. If you have any questions or just want to chat, feel free to reach out!

Quiz Section: AH
Hey everyone! I am a fourth year PhD student in the Allen School. I work in MISL (the Molecular Information Systems Lab). I previously have been a TA for CSE 160 and Molecular Programming. I originally studied Chemistry in undergrad and subsequently learned python in a class similar to this! I am always happy to chat about the interface of Biology and Computer Science! In my free time I enjoy hiking, camping, and running.
John Yi he/they
Quiz Section: AE
Hello everyone! I am a senior double majoring in psychology and biology, and this is my fifth time TA‘ing CSE 160. As a non CS major myself, I would be excited to learn why you decided to learn python if I ever get the chance to meet you! Although I came into this class with barely any programming experience, being able to do cool things with code by the end of the quarter made it so satisfying to learn, and now to teach. When I’m not in the classroom, you can find me playing baritone horn/euphonium in the marching/concert bands or leading an anime club at UW.
Kellen Rodriguez
Quiz Section: AG
I’m a 3rd year PhD student in the Allen School and I do research in Molecular Programming and DNA computing. Outside of school I enjoy running, any outdoor activities, plants, and animals.
Lisa Orii
Quiz Section: AF
Hi! I am a PhD student in the Allen School. I research healthcare technologies in low-resource settings. In undergrad, I studied computer science and philosophy. I love cats, embroidery, and watching scary movies. Looking forward to getting know everyone!
Sara Duan
Quiz Section: AA
Hello! I’m Sara, a junior majoring in Informatics with a minor in Dance. This is my second time as a TA for CSE160, and I’m really looking forward to meeting and working with you all! Outside of academics, you can find me painting, watching movies, or trying new recipes. I love philosophical conversations and debates, so feel free to reach out if you’re ever looking for a chat!
Suh Young Choi
Quiz Section: AB
Hello! I’m Suh Young (not Suh!), and I’m a Master’s student in Classics. I also did my undergrad at UW, where I double-majored in Statistics and Classics. I’ve also been a TA in the Allen School for about 3 years, and this is my second time TA‘ing CSE 160. Some of my current research centers on databases and digital libraries, epic, and teaching computing in the humanities. Outside of working and schooling, I enjoy foreign-language musicals, picking apart tragedy as a literary genre, overthinking cosmic horror, and going on Wikipedia rabbit-holes. Feel free to reach out for questions or just to chat!
Suhas Kannam
Quiz Section: TBD
Hi! I am a Computer Science major here at UW. I spent most of my life here in Washington (more specifically Redmond). I’m interested in gardening and architecture if that’s something you want to talk about! I have TA-ed CSE 160 before so if you have any questions feel free to ask. I look forward to teaching you all!
Vibhav Peri
