Welcome the the Puget Sound Whale Tracker, where crowd sourced data on whale sightings is collected and displayed on the Google Maps API. Each marker represents a sighting of one or more whales, and the letter on the marker corresponds to the first letter in the common name of tracked species Orca, Gray, Humpback, and Minke.

Instructions For Submitting a Sighting

  1. To submit a sighting, click the location of the whale sighting on the map. This will automatically fill the latitute and longitide field of the form.
  2. Fill in additional information about the date, species, and number of whales sighted.
  3. When all information is correct, hit the submit button.
  4. Refresh the page to see your submitted sighting on the map!
