D.A. Clements is a lecturer at the University of Washington Information School, with a strong technology background and experience in both front- and back-end Web design and development. As course developer for Fluency with Information Technology, a UW Educational Outreach program funded by a National Science Foundation grant, D.A. programmed personalization features, a registration system, course statistics, quizzes, and a database back end. D.A. was also content editor for the first major redesign of the UW Information School’s Web site. In Summer 2008, D.A. worked as developer and designer for several smaller iSchool Web projects, including the pages on Lewis Hall, the future home of the Information School.

In addition to courses at the iSchool, D.A. teaches Client-Side Scripting and Design in the Web Technology Solutions Certificate program at UWEO. Clements is also training and mentoring high school teachers in teaching fluency with information technology through the UW in the High Schools program. The pilot year began in 2008-09 with three teachers and high schools participating: Everett (John Low) and Jackson (Maggie Thorleifson) High Schools in the Everett School District and Tahoma Senior High School (Crystal Hess) in Covington, Washington.

D.A. earned the Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Washington, along with the Web Technology Solutions certificate and the Technical Editing and Writing certificate, and holds a B.S. in Information Systems Management from San Diego State University. Clements has worked in computer consulting, builds computers as a hobby, and enjoys making the technically complex easy to understand.
