Overview

In this course, we will explore methods for working with large data sets. This will include an introduction to distributed systems and the MapReduce programming model. After this class, you will have the skills neccessary to design parallel solutions to problems involving terabytes of data.

Course Schedule

This course is organized as a series of lectures, two smaller projects, and one large final project. There will be six hours a week of staffed lab hours and two hours a week of traditional "professor style" office hours. The schedule is as follows:

Lectures: Mondays and Wednesdays 3:30-4:50 CSE 407
Lab: Tuesdays 3:30-6:30
Thursdays 1:30-4:30
CSE 407 (tentative)
Office Hours: Fridays 3:00-5:00
