CSE492D: Deconstructing Cultural Norms in Computer Science

Description: Seminar on career and cultural norms within computer science learning spaces, exploring how these norms are reinforced and replicated, and the systemic ramifications of those norms. This course looks to help students explore their identity, how it relates to the field’s cultural norms, and how to respond in ways that may counter prevailing norms and narratives. Students will be lovingly asked to reflect on their position within computer science learning spaces and society broadly in order to find practices that sustain positive cultural change.
