In this lab we'll explore more of the syntax of Pure Data and make some sounds.

1. Start Pd, and under the MEDIA menu, select "Test Audio and MIDI". Click on the 80, 60, off buttons to test audio. Close the window.
2. Under Help menu, select "Browser" (cntl-B), then Manuals/ 0.Intro +pager.pd. That brings up a little window with two buttons, which allow you to step through the pages of the manual.
Work through:
Section 0. Intro-- all parts
Section 1. Sound down through the section entitles "Crossfade".

Pick two sounds from the list of examples and make them work. (yes, he gives you the patches.) Make one SIGNIFICANT change to improve each patch, and document your change, explaining what you did and why. This means that you must understand AND EXPLAIN what the patch does before you change it.
Email your modified PD patch files to bruceh@cs.washington.edu. KEEP A COPY!!
Assessment. Each programming assignment will be assessed as either complete, incomplete or not received (C, I, or N).
C: To be complete, all components of the assigned need to be completed in the submitted work. Omitting elements will lead to an incomplete.
N: If the assignment is not received by the due date, it is assigned an N and there is no opportunity to redo the assignment.
I: If you receive an incomplete, you will have an additional week to redo the assignment and to turn in a revised version. If the revised version fulfills all elements of the assignment, it will considered complete and receive a C. Revised work files should have the letter ‘Rev’ appended to the original file name.
