Our project over the quarter was to build an accessible version of the ConsiderIt website framework. Specifically, our goal was to expand the existing code to include a mobile site that blind and low-vision users could use on their iDevice or any machine with a screen reader.
ConsiderIt is a website that frames deliberation on the web. It allows users to look over a topic of discussion and form an opinion on the subject by constructing a pro-con list. They can create their own points in the discussion or add ones that other users have published. Once a user a constructed their list, they can see how others with similar positions came to their conclusion. The website constructs a list of important points that users of certain positions included in their pro-con list. This way, visitors can both form their own opinions and see how others think without breaking any privacy.
