a n i m a t i o n should be seen as art

nimation is a relatively new concept in the world.

Some make the mistake of thinking of animating as a technical process. In fact, animation is a complex form of expression that should be seen as nothing less than art.

Animation is present in many forms in our world today, being used to provide expression, information, and (above all) entertainment to the masses. Just as Michelangelo's statues and paintings were put on display for the world to admire, animation is put on a screen for all the world to see.

Animation is seen everywhere from the graphics during football games to the characters in motion pictures, and one could hardly escape it's presence. But just as painting is not simply a matter of splashing paint onto canvas, animation is far more complex than moving images on a screen. The chosen technique of motion, style, and events should be carefully considered and the possibilites for creation are endless. The artist can depict whatever his imagination leads him to, and it is the freedom to express the imagination which makes animation an art. How the work is seen is determined by the viewer.
