This raytraced 3D fractal was rendered using monte carlo soft shadows and glossy reflection. I found that implementing glossy reflection made it look great because surfaces facing away from the single light source are still "lit" from diffused reflections, which creates a realistic lighting simulation. I rendered this with 20x20 AA at 1024x1024 which took about 30 minutes. (I would like to render it huge but the program crashed when the resolution was any higher than 1024)
