Original Images
The first image is Seattle's skyline. The second is an image of Mary Poppins.

My Mask
My mask was a little tricky. I wanted a contour of Mary Poppins, her umbrella and her purse. The first gap I had to account for was between her body and left arm. The second gap was between her legs where her heels meet below her skirt. I achieved my mask using one contour making sure to trace between her body and purse getting rid of the first gap, and using the same technique for the gap between her legs.

The Final Image

My final image is Mary Poppins floating above the Seattle area with the Space Needle and Mt. Rainier in the background.
To arrive at my final image I did the following steps in Photoshop:

  • Made my mask of Mary Poppins. The large image of Mary Poppins allowed me to get a nice contour.
  • Resized the Mary Poppins image and my mask of Mary Poppins image.
  • Rotated both the original Mary Poppins and my mask.
  • Changed the coloring of Mary Poppins to match the Seattle Skyline.
  • Applied the mask to Mary Poppins.
  • Layered Mary Poppins onto my Seattle Skyline image.
