We use "the dragon book", Compilers, Principles, Techniques, and Tools by Aho, Sethi, and Ullman. It's approximately $50 new at the UW bookstore. Although this book is a standard reference book, it is starting to show its age; parts of it were written before many of you were born! Since we only use a part of the book, I have made the book only a "strong requirement" for the course. There should be multiple copies on reserve at the Engineering Library.
