Meet A TA

We'd like each student to have a brief interaction with a TA during the first week of class. The goal is to try to overcome some of the isolation our current situation forces on us, with the hope that getting to know each other at least a bit makes the class more enjoyable for everyone and that in turn makes it more effective for everyone. It's a theory, admittedly, but let's give it a try.

You'll find these sessions as one or two hour Zoom sessions on the course canvas page. The current schedule is

Day Time TA
Tuesday (1/5) 2:30pm - 3:30pm Ben
Wednesday (1/6) 12:30am - 1:30pm Chase
Wednesday (1/6) 1:30pm - 3:30pm Tim
Wednesday (1/13) 3:30pm - 4:30pm Elizabeth (Sign-up sheet)
Thursday (1/7) 10:30am - 11:30am Henry (Section AA, sign-up sheet)

Friday (1/8) 10:00am - 11:00am Jacob (sign up sheet)
Friday (1/8) 1:30pm - 2:30pm Non (Section AE, sign-up sheet)
Friday (1/8) 3:30pm - 4:30pm Leo (Section AB, sheet to reserve a time)
Friday (1/8) 4:30pm - 6:30pm Guramrit (Signup Sheet. If this time did not work for you feel free to send me an email to schedule another time)

We know that meeting someone can be stressful, so we've created a little script you can follow. In fact, we'd appreciate it if you started with the script even if you don't need the script. Here it is:

"Hi, ___________, my name is ________. I'm a fresh/soph/junior/senior majoring in ________. My favorite CSE course so far was _________. The thing I liked about it was _____________. My favorite course ever, anywhere, was __________. The thing I liked about it was _____________. I'm [really/kind of] looking forward to ________ in CSE 333 this quarter. I'm worried about _______ in CSE 333 this quarter. [Optional: Something I'd like you to know about me is _______.] I have this question: ______________."

For meeting me (JZ), I encourage you to say hello during office hours. You can even use the script above if you'd like.

Thanks!
