Homework:

Homework will be assigned on Wednesdays and due one week later in class.
Your solutions can be handwritten or printed; if the former, please try to keep your handwriting as legible as possible.
Late homework will not receive credit. (If a genuine emergency situation prevents you from handing in an assignment on time, let one of us know in advance and we can work something out.)

Grading:

The course grade will be based on homework, a midterm and a final. Note that the values below are approximations only and may change:

Homework: 45%
Midterm: 20%
Final: 35%

Exams:

Midterm: Wednesday, May 4 (Sample: ps, Solution: pdf)
Final: Monday, June 6, 8:30-10:20am (Sample: ps, Solution: pdf)

Collaboration:

Discussion of homework is acceptable, what is not is copying someone else's solutions, or taking notes about someone else's ideas. There is a fine line between "discussing a problem" and cheating; when in doubt play it safe as similar solutions tend to be noticed. Finally, you should note that without preparing via the homework you stand little chance of succeeding during the midterm and final. Therefore, doing your own work is in your own best interest.
