Textbook

There is no required text for the course. Over the first 6 weeks or so of the course, the following textbook can be a useful companion. Rosen, Discrete Mathematics and Its Applications, McGraw-Hill. The 6th or 7th editions of the text are equally useful. Used or rental copies of either edition are available for vastly less than the ridiculously high new copy prices. The 6th edition is also available on short-term loan from the Engineering Library. See the Course Calendar for the associated readings that may be useful.

Important Dates

The following are important dates for the course. Please mark them on your calendar as soon as possible.

Holidays

Class will not be held on the following university holidays:
  • Day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov 28, 2014

Midterm Exam

November 3rd in class.

Final Exam

The final exam has been rescheduled so that both lectures can take a common exam. The exam is Monday, Dec 8. The times will be 2:30-4:20 pm (the original exam time for the 1:30 section) and 4:30-6:20 pm location TBA. Students may take the exam at either time. We will send out a Catalyst survey to get an idea of the number of students taking it at each time. Here are Final exam review materials
