UW CSE 12x/14x TA Program

Our lovely group of TAs poses for a picture (Winter 2024).

Welcome!

The introductory programming courses at UW (CSE 12x and 14x) are unusual in that undergraduate teaching assistants manage a large portion of the course (teaching section, grading, etc.). The TA program offers a rare opportunity to undergraduate students to become teachers themselves. Around 75-100 TAs work each quarter to keep the cogs of CSE 12x/14x turning!

UW principal lecturer Stuart Reges first used undergraduate TAs when he taught at Stanford and then at the University of Arizona before coming to UW. The structure of the UW undergrad TA program therefore closely mirrors that of Stanford.
