Assignment 0: The first four questions of this assignment are due before the first lab sections on Tuesday, September 28th. The remainder of the assignment is due before the second lecture on Wednesday, September 29th. You are allowed to get help from a friend or Lab Consultant on this assignment.

Assignment 1: Read Chapters 1-3 in Fluency With Information Technology before class on Friday October 1.

Assignment 2: Read Chapters 4-6 in Fluency for Monday, October 4.

Assignment 3: Construct your first Web page. Steps 1-6 are due Wednesday, October 6th. Steps 7-13 are due by October 12th. See the References

Assignment 4: Enhance your web page. Send the URL of your completed page(s) to your TA by 5 p.m., Thursday, October 14th

Assignment 5: Creating Your First Visual Basic Program. Due Date: Friday October 22nd. Use the eTurn-in facility.

Project 1: Astrological Toys. "What's your sign?" Keep track with the changes of the Zodiac with a digital clock, look up a sign given a date with Sign Finder, report the interval spanned by a Zodiac sign, and formulate a set of questions to find out a person's birthday with Day Finder.

Project 1, Part I. Due Sunday October 24th. Use eTurn-in.

Project 1, Part II. Due Wednesday October 27th. Use eTurn-in.

Project 1, Part III. Due Monday November 1st. Use eTurn-in.

Project 2: "Yes, But Is It Art?" Time to send a note home to your folks … Due : Part 1, November 12th using eTurn-in. Part 2, November 16th using eTurn-in.

Project 3: "Rain Drops Keep Falling" A computer model falling on pavement is the basis for understanding the techniques and limitations computer models of the physical world. Due: November 24th. Use eTurnin. Note that you will turn in five files: the .frm, .vbp, .exe., .xls and .txt. See the worked solution as as .frm and .vbp files.

Project 4: Public Health. The fictitious Central District Clinic gives free HIV and other testing. Its database system is the topic of this project. Design the tables, forms, reports and processing strategy for the CDC. (The assignment is a Word document.) Tasks 1-4 are due Friday December 3rd at 5:00. Use eTurnin for you .mdb file. The remainder of the project is due Wednesday December 8th at 5:00. Use eTurnin for the .mdb file.
